Who is Lyricsmit for?
Songwriters, producers, beatmakers, ghostwriters, independent artists, and small studios — people who need a timestamped record before a file leaves their hands.
The infrastructure can hold a record for any file. The first community Lyricsmit is built for is music.

Every creative work has a beginning.
A Lyricsmit Record is a verifiable proof-of-existence record showing when a specific version of your work existed. When an RFC 3161 stamp is present, that time can be checked independently of Lyricsmit’s clock.
Over time, these records become an archive of versions you can point to. That archive lasts while the service operates — download the Evidence Pack if you need the raw token without the website.

Yes.
You can create up to 5 standard Creative Records each month at no cost. Accounts created before 6 September 2026 keep their existing 10-record monthly allowance.
Existing records and verification stay available.
Legacy Certificates are an optional presentation upgrade if you would like a beautifully presented certificate.
Does Lyricsmit store my original file?
Lyricsmit does not keep the file after hashing.
The file transits Lyricsmit so a SHA-256 fingerprint can be computed, then it is discarded.
Your browser also computes SHA-256. The server recomputes it and rejects a mismatch. That is not a no-upload design — the bytes still reach Lyricsmit.
Is my work kept private?
The file is not retained as a library of your work.
Lyricsmit stores the cryptographic fingerprint, timestamps, timestamp token, and the record information you provide.
Verification pages are public for saved records unless you hide them.
How does fingerprinting work?
A SHA-256 cryptographic fingerprint is created from your file in the browser and again on the server.
Even the smallest change creates a completely different fingerprint, making every record uniquely linked to that specific version of your work.
Can I verify my record later?
Yes, on the Lyricsmit verify page while the service operates.
If an RFC 3161 token is present, you can also check that token with standard tools without trusting Lyricsmit’s clock. Download the Evidence Pack from your record to get the raw token, the full hash, a claims log, and verification instructions.
Does Lyricsmit claim ownership of my work?
No.
Lyricsmit creates a proof-of-existence record only.
It does not claim ownership, authorship, originality, copyright status or legal rights over your work.
Does a record prove I created the work or that I own the copyright?
No.
A Lyricsmit record proves that a specific file fingerprint was presented at a recorded time.
Anyone who possesses a file can create a record of it. The earliest Lyricsmit record is not a finding of original creation, first authorship, or copyright ownership.
Are names, splits and AI declarations covered by the timestamp?
No.
The Timestamp Authority receives the file fingerprint only.
Creator name, collaborators, splits, location and AI declarations are self-declared. They may be added after the fingerprint. Verification shows what was sealed at issuance, what was recorded later, when, and who supplied it. Lyricsmit does not independently verify those claims.
